GMB Uber drivers fight for fair pay and conditions

DOZENS of Uber drivers have rallied outside the company’s Glasgow hub as they battle the multinational for fair pay and conditions.

Backed by their union, GMB, drivers argue that the way pay is calculated remains unclear, fuelling uncertainly and frustration as costs rise faster than earnings.

The company uses “surge-pricing” to calculate fares and wages based on instant calculations of drivers available and demand, similar to the “dynamic ticketing” for concerts which has been heavy criticised amid allegations of price gouging.
