Dozens more to be arrested for violent disorder at so-called Unite the Kingdom march, Met Chief says

MET Police chief Sir Mark Rowley said that he expects about 50 more people will be arrested for violent disorder at the so-called Unite the Kingdom march in London today.

The force said that 26 officers were injured and 24 arrests were made after between 110,000 and 150,000 attended last Saturday’s protest called by far-right agitator known as Tommy Robinson.

On Monday, it issued photos of 11 people that officers are hoping to speak to in relation to the disorder.

Sir Mark told the London Policing Board: “It’s a classic example of the most difficult public order challenges.

“A large crowd, tens of thousands of people peacefully expressing their opinion, and tens of people determined on serious violence.

“We arrested a handful yesterday, and will slowly be doing appeals based on the imagery as we work through the CCTV.”

The force has charged eight people with offences, including assault and public order crimes.
