Protest outside L&Q housing association over family of five stuck in leaking one-bed flat

DOZENS of tenants protested outside housing association L&Q’s headquarters in east London over its treatment of disabled father-of-three Sanjay Ramburn today.

In the 12 years since his family of five moved into their one-bedroom flat, the ceiling has fallen in four times due to leaks amid “chronic damp, mould, and power cuts that has rendered much of the small flat unlivable [sic],” said London Renters Union (LRU).

Following a protest in the summer, “L&Q pledged to rehouse the family in a two-bedroom flat during repair works,” added the union.

“Instead, the association offered them an even smaller property plagued by the same problems — damp, mould, and faulty electrics.”

Mr Ramburn said: “All I want is a safe home for my family where we aren’t scared that the roof will collapse on our heads.

“I have wasted years and years of my life asking L&Q to repair my home.”

L&Q was contacted for comment.
