FAMILIES bereaved by state killings are set to silently march to Downing Street tomorrow to demand justice and accountability.
Led by the United Families and Friends Campaign (UFFC), they will present a letter to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer with key demands, including an end to all racist police practice and fatal use of force, and truly independent investigations following deaths in mental health settings.
They are also demanding that the Hillsborough Law, which will place a duty of candour on authorities and ensure that bereaved families have access to non-means-tested legal aid at inquests, be implemented in full, following its introduction to Parliament last month.
UFFC’s Marcia Rigg said: “Families are continuously traumatised by the unnecessary lengthy delays in investigating the death of their loved one, with no real admission, accountability, or justice from the state.
“To stop other families enduring the trauma and pain that we continue to suffer, the cover-ups and lies, and to protect the wider communities from further harm, UFFC demands rapid and effective change, and for Keir Starmer to address the serious issues outlined in their letter.”
