MEN’S FOOTBALL: Liverpool striker Alexander Isak insists “not everyone has the whole picture” about his acrimonious move from Newcastle.

Having completed his British-record transfer on September 1, Isak said he wanted to “express his gratitude” to his former Newcastle team-mates, club staff and fans.

However, when it looked like the move would not happen a fortnight earlier, the Swede posted a strongly worded statement on Instagram claiming promises had been broken and his silence had “allowed people to push their own version of events.”

“It’s clear that not everyone has the whole picture, but that’s something for another day,” Isak told Swedish media after his country’s 2-0 defeat by Kosovo on Monday.

MEN’S CRICKET: Durham head coach Ryan Campbell says England captain Ben Stokes will be ready for this winter’s Ashes in Australia after returning to training following a shoulder injury.

The 34-year-old sustained the problem during the draw against India at Old Trafford in July, causing him to miss the fifth and final Test at the Oval. He had been expected to be out for around six or seven weeks.

He has now returned to batting in the nets with his county side and with the first Ashes Test set to begin in Perth on 21 November, Campbell was confident the all-rounder would be available.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: A National League match abandoned last week after two players required paramedic treatment is to be replayed, it has been announced.

Eastleigh’s home match with Scunthorpe on September 2 was level at 1-1 in the seventh minute of added time when the home side’s Archie Harris collided with Scunthorpe’s Jean Belehouan.

Harris was taken to hospital and given a CT scan, but was discharged the following day. Belehouan underwent treatment on the pitch and after the match, but was well enough to return home on the Scunthorpe team coach. No new date has yet been set for the rearranged Eastleigh match.
