Exam bosses must re-apply for their jobs, say Scottish Labour

'Genuine reform is desperately needed'

SCOTTISH Labour will attempt to force bosses at Scotland’s exams body to reapply for their jobs at its successor.

The Scottish government announced in 2021 that the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) would be replaced following a series of marking scandals.

Four years on, the Education (Scotland) Bill aims to do that, but Scottish Labour education spokeswoman Pam Duncan-Glancy fears SQA bosses may simply transfer to its successor, Qualifications Scotland (QS), rendering the process “little more than a rebranding exercise.”
