Paris becomes latest French city to join World Cup boycott

PARIS became the latest French city to join a boycott of the World Cup today, amid concerns over violations of workers’ rights and the environmental impact of the games in Qatar.
The capital will not broadcast any matches on giant public screens, following similar decisions in other cities, despite France taking part in the football tournament as the defending champion.
Paris Deputy Mayor Pierre Rabadan, in charge of sport, said that there was “the problem of the environmental impact” of the stadiums as well as the “conditions in which these facilities have been built.”
