WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Emily Whelan netted a hat-trick as Glasgow City thrashed Dundee United 13-0 to move top of the Scottish Premier League, one point ahead of Rangers, who needed an added time equaliser from Rio Hardy to draw 1-1 at Hibernian. Third-placed Hearts won 3-0 at Montrose, defending champions Celtic edged out Spartans 1-0 and Partick beat Queen’s Park 2-0. Aberdeen’s match with Motherwell was postponed.

WOMEN’S RUGBY UNION: Saracens top the English Women’s Premiership by two points after romping to a 41-24 win at Bristol while second-placed Exeter maintained their hundred per cent start to the season with a 21-15 win at defending champions Gloucester-Hartpury. Bo Westcombe-Evans scored two tries in Loughborough’s 36-17 victory over bottom club Sale and Harlequins gained their first win with a 31-17 victory over Leicester.

ICE HOCKEY: Cardiff Devils edged out Manchester 3-2 to remain top of the Elite League, six points clear of Coventry who kept their hundred per cent record intact with a 6-4 win at Belfast. Defending champions Sheffield saw off bottom club Glasgow 6-3, Daniel Catenacci and Ethan Strang both scored twice in Guildford’s 7-4 win at Fife and Dundee won 5-2 in Nottingham, who hit back to beat Belfast 5-1 on Sunday night.
