Man dies in Channel after boat deflates
A MAN in his 40s from India died after a boat deflated in the English Channel today, French authorities reported.
The boat, which left Tardinghen in France early in the morning, deflated, and passengers swam back to shore.
Emergency responders tried to help the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
More than 29,500 migrants have taken the dangerous journey this year, surpassing 2023’s total.
On Friday, the French coastguard said 35 people were rescued and taken to Calais after screams were heard from a vessel.
Last week, multiple rescue operations were conducted, with several fatalities reported, including that of a baby.
