MEN’S CRICKET: Scotland will look to hit back from Tuesday’s surprise five-wicket defeat at the hands of Nepal when they take on the US in another 50-over World Cup qualifier in Texas today.

The Americans will be without head coach Stuart Law who was sacked following their 10-wicket loss to the Scots last week.

Law led the US to the Super 8s at this year’s Twenty20 World Cup after a shock win over Pakistan.

CYCLING: The 2025 men’s Tour de France route will be based entirely in its host country for the first time in five years and finishes on the Champs Elysees for the fiftieth time, after missing out this summer due to the Olympics.

There will be a time trial on day five, an 11-kilometre mountain time trial in week two and the route also includes the ascent of Ventoux alongside five other mountain-top finishes.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Ceri Holland’s extra-time strike earned Wales a 3-2 aggregate win over Slovakia on Tuesday night and set up a play-off against the Republic of Ireland for a place at next year’s Euros in Switzerland.

Neither team have qualified for a major tournament before. Northern Ireland also needed extra time to edge out Croatia 2-1 and will meet Norway in their play-off, while Scotland face Finland after thumping Hungary 4-0.

BASKETBALL: Domantas Sabonis sank 28 points and claimed 11 rebounds as Sacramento condemned Utah Jazz to their fourth consecutive defeat with a 113-96 win in Salt Lake City yesterday morning.

Utah and Detroit remain the only teams without a win in the new NBA season. The morning’s other game saw the Golden State Warriors make light of Steph Curry’s injury by coming from behind to see off New Orleans 124-106.
