Serbian police officers scuffled with opposition protesters demanding arrests over a deadly roof collapse at a railway station in Novi Sad, Serbia, November 21, 2024

GREECE: Syriza lost its status as the main opposition group in parliament today, when two of its MPs announced that they were quitting the left-wing party.

Their departure reduced Syriza's number of MPs to 29, fewer than the 31 seats held by the Panhellenic Socialist Movement.

One of the deputies, Theodora Tzakri, said: “My decision to become an independent legislator is an act of self-respect and self-worth in my political journey so far.”
