FRANCE: A court sentenced Rwandan former doctor Eugene Rwamucyo today to 27 years in prison for crimes related to the 1994 genocide in his country.

Mr Rwamucyo was found guilty of complicity in genocide and crimes against humanity and of conspiring to prepare for the crimes by spreading false propaganda and covering up evidence of mass murder.

He denied any wrongdoing and his lawyers say he intends to appeal against the sentence.
