DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO: At least 60 people were killed today by an Islamic-State-affiliated militia in the country’s east.

The attack was reportedly carried out by the Allied Democratic Force in Ntoyo, North Kivu, after residents gathered for a burial.

“The ADF attack caused around 60 deaths, but the final toll will be given later this evening because the territory has just deployed services to the area to count the number of beheaded people,” according to Colonel Alain Kiwewa, local administrator of the Lubero territory where Ntoyo is located.

NORWAY: The Labour Party of Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store has claimed victory in Monday’s general election, with the centre-left bloc scoring a clear win over the right-wing parties.

Addressing the crowd, Mr Store thanked his supporters and said the victory showed that Social Democratic parties could win elections even with right-wing forces on the rise in Europe.

UKRAINE: A Russian glide bomb struck the eastern village of Yarova today, killing at least 21 people and wounding nearly two dozen, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky.

He described the attack as “brutal” and again urged his allies to strengthen economic sanctions against Russia.

ETHIOPIA: The east African country inaugurated the continent’s largest dam today.

It is hoped that the dam will boost the economy, end frequent power cuts and support the growth of electric vehicle development in a nation that has banned the import of petrol-powered vehicles.

“We will have enough power to charge our electric vehicles from the new dam,” said Addis Ababa bus driver Belay Tigabu.
