FLASH floods in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan have killed more than 100 people in the past week, authorities said today, and the death toll is expected to rise.

Villagers in Afghanistan’s Khushi district, south of the capital Kabul, began cleaning up their damaged homes as the sun rose. Officials said it was unknown how many had been killed by the seasonal downpour.

Abdullah Mufaker, head of the province’s natural disaster response authority, said there were at least nine fatalities and people were working on removing bodies from debris.
