PCS becomes latest union to affiliate with Strike Map

BRITAIN’S largest Civil Service trade union announced today that it has officially affiliated with Strike Map, a worker-powered tool that maps out industrial action across the country.

The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) has become the latest organisation to join Strike Map’s expanding list of affiliates, which includes the National Education Union, the British Medical Association and the Fire Brigades Union.

PCS general secretary Fran Heathcote said: “Our executive was unanimous in affiliating to Strike Map.

“The last five years have seen Strike Map play an increasingly important role across our trade union movement.

“The recent ‘Megapickets’ in support of the Birmingham bin strike have shown that Strike Map is a centre for solidarity. We would encourage all unions to affiliate and support it.”

Strike Map co-founder Henry Fowler, whose platform has mapped 230,000 strikes since 2020, said: “We are delighted to see PCS join our growing list of affiliates.

“PCS continues to be a union that is engaged in multiple industrial action campaigns and we look forward to continuing our  support for every single dispute.”
