BENTLEY auto workers will go on strike after bosses were offered bonuses topping £14,000.

More than 250 workers at the Crewe factory overwhelmingly backed industrial action after being offered a 3.5 per cent pay rise and a one-off non-consolidated payment.

GMB regional organiser Karen Lewis said: “While bosses are receiving big bonuses, the workers who make the cars that deliver the company’s profits are offered a pittance.

“In the worst cost-of-living crisis for a generation, this just isn’t good enough. They need to engage with GMB as a matter of urgency — not ignore workers’ concerns.

“We will always stand with working people who demand a fairer deal.”

GMB said the employer did not come forward with any new offer to avert the action backed by 86 per cent of workers.

Plans to impose a new Fit for Work policy had also been stopped by staff.

Bentley Motors was contacted for comment.
