CAMPAIGNERS from Toothless in England will meet Care Minister Stephen Kinnock tomorrow to highlight the lack of NHS dentistry provisions across the country.

Founder Mark Jones will ask him to act with more urgency to reverse decades of decline seen in the service. 

Suffolk Coastal MP Jenny Riddell-Carpenter arranged the meeting after raising concerns about her constituents’ lack of access to NHS oral healthcare.

Mr Jones said: “We hope the minister is aware that the government’s promise to reform the dental contract is not the final word. 

“We also want him to know that NHS dental practices in rural and coastal areas, such as Suffolk, will not return to local high streets. 

“As a result, he must ensure that marginalised patients and their families have access to crucial services by establishing mobile dentistry clinics similar to those that frequently visit communities and provide breast cancer screening.”

Mr Jones said that such steps would “significantly enhance public access to NHS dentistry currently out of reach for many millions of individuals across England.”

“It would start to improve the country’s overall health and wellbeing while also saving money for the NHS and increasing productivity,” he said.
