College strikes suspended following ‘significant progress’ in talks over pay
Lecturers and other university staff take part in a rally on Buchanan Street, Glasgow, September 19, 2023

COLLEGE strikes have been suspended this week after “significant progress” was made during a series of talks regarding pay.

The Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), Scotland’s largest teaching union, has announced that strikes planned in colleges today, tomorrow and on Thursday have been halted.

It comes as the EIS Further Education Lecturers Association (EIS-FELA) held talks on Monday morning with College Employers Scotland (CES) and the Scottish government’s minister for further and higher education Graeme Dey.
