Cleaners at Old Bailey ballot on strike action against outsourcing

CLEANERS at the Old Bailey are balloting on strike action against the City of London Corporation’s plans to outsource workers.

The Cleaners and Allied Independent Workers Union (CAIWU), which represents the workers, said that the decision represents a “significant betrayal” of public-sector workers, “undermining the very promises of in-sourcing made by the Labour government.”

A union spokesperson said: “Our members at the Old Bailey have been left in the dark, with no consultation on this drastic change.
