Israeli attacks kill at least three in southern Lebanon
Rescue workers search for victims in the rubble of a destroyed house that was hit on Tuesday by an Israeli airstrike, in the village of Deir Qanoun al Nahr, south Lebanon, May 20, 2026

ISRAELI attacks on southern Lebanon today killed at least three more people as Israeli forces issued more instructions to the local population to evacuate the areas they intend to attack.

According to the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA), Israeli drone attacks targeting three vehicles on the Kafr Rumman-Jarmaq highway and the Jarmaq-Khardali road in the Nabatieh area early today killed three people.

After the attacks, Israel issued orders to the residents of 10 villages in southern Lebanon to evacuate ahead of expected attacks.

Israeli military spokesman Colonel Avichay Adraee claimed the attacks were taking place because of “Hezbollah’s violation of the ceasefire agreement,” compelling the Israeli military to “operate against it with force.”

He said the villages to be targeted were Nabatieh al-Tahta, al-Louizeh, Sajd, Ain Qana, Harouf, Zibdin, Kfar Reman, Doueir, Adshit al-Shaqif and Maydun, most of which are in southern Lebanon.

In the southern city of Tyre, an Israeli attack destroyed two homes in the Arzoun municipality, NNA reported, adding that rescue teams were on site to evacuate the injured.

Israeli forces also attacked the towns of al-Mansouri, Siddiqin, Zibqin, Qlayaa, Yohmor al-Shaqif, Zawtar al-Sharqiyah and al-Haniya.

More than 3,000 people have been killed since the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah resumed on March 2, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said today that Israel’s withdrawal from the country was a “non-negotiable” demand that authorities would pursue through negotiations, days before another round of talks in Washington, DC.

Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem on Sunday reiterated his opposition to direct talks with Israel and his group’s refusal to disarm. He said: “If this government is incapable of guaranteeing sovereignty, it should go.”
