Hundreds of events announced to counter hate ahead of Robinson demo
Police push back protesters taking part in the Tommy Robinson-led Unite the Kingdom march and rally on Whitehall in central London, September 13, 2025

HUNDREDS of communities across Britain have announced events to counter the far-right as Tommy Robinson’s Unite the West march is expected to take place in London on Saturday.

The march falls on the same day as the annual Palestine solidarity demonstration, marking the anniversary of the Nakba.

Stand Up to Racism has also announced a counter-protest to stand with the pro-Palestine march and against the far right.

A Million Acts of Hope, a week of action from tomorrow until May 20, will see more than 350 groups — including Crisis, Save the Children, Trussell, Refuge and Hope Not Hate — host community events across the country.

Together with Refugees interim director Jehangir Malik said: “We know that division and hate do not represent who we are, either as communities or as a country.

“Now is the time to focus on what unites us, to find common ground and shine a light on the millions of small but meaningful acts of solidarity and hope happening in every community, in every corner of the country, every day.”

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said today that “far-right agitators” will be blocked from entering Britain for the demonstration, which he said was “designed to confront and intimidate this diverse country.”

The Home Secretary has already blocked seven people from attending

Anti-Islam influencer Valentina Gomez was among those excluded last month after a backlash from MPs and campaign groups.

Right-wing US figure Joey Mannarino and rapper Kanye West have also been banned because their presence would not be conducive to the public good.

The developments follow concerns from pro-Palestine protest organisers over government and Metropolitan Police restrictions on their marches, amid fears of attempts to silence Palestine solidarity.
