SIR KEIR STARMER’S Labour is set to lose more than 75 per cent of the council seats it is defending in England’s May elections, a polling guru has predicted.
Voters will go to the polls to elect councillors across England next week, as well as parliamentary representatives in Wales and Scotland.
Labour faces devastating losses, according to Lord Robert Hayward and the Elections Centre, as it may lose 1,850 of the 2,557 seats it is defending.
Reform UK is expected to be the main beneficiary, gaining about 1,550 seats from Labour and the Conservatives.
The Green Party could gain 500 seats, while the Liberal Democrats are eyeing around 150 gains.
The Prime Minister’s spokesman said: “This local election comes down to a simple choice: Labour on your side, or Nigel Farage and Reform who would put your family, your NHS and your community at risk.”
Asked about Sir Keir’s message to councillors facing dire results, the spokesman declined to “get ahead” of the outcome.
