DARTS: Beau Greaves hit a 142 finish to seal an 8-7 win over former world champion Michael Smith in Monday night’s final of the Players Championship 11 event and became the first woman to win a PDC ranking title.
She had also reeled in a “big fish” 170 finish earlier in the match.
Greaves beat two other former world champions, Rob Cross and Gary Anderson, in her quarter and semi-finals.
MEN’S BASKETBALL: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander netted 31 points as defending NBA champions Oklahoma City beat Phoenix 131-122 on Tuesday morning to seal a 4-0 series victory and qualify for the Western Conference semi-finals.
Nikola Jokic hit 27 points, 12 rebounds and 16 assists as Denver beat Minnesota 125-113 but still trail 3-2 and Orlando held off Detroit 94-88 to lead the Eastern Conference table-toppers 3-1.
MEN’S CRICKET: Warwickshire moved top of County Championship Division One by a point ahead of Somerset, who have a game in hand, after all four matches ended in tame, uneventful draws on Monday.
Yorkshire did manage to claim their first batting bonus points of the season against Sussex, thanks to a healthy first innings total of 511, and climbed off the bottom of the table, a point clear of Hampshire.
SPEEDWAY: Chris Harris top-scored with 12+2 points and Max Fricke weighed in with 12 as the King’s Lynn Stars beat Sheffield Tigers 49-41 on Monday evening to get their Premiership campaign up and running.
Chris Holder top-scored for the Tigers with 10 points.
Sheffield were last year’s regular season champions when King’s Lynn finished well off the pace, and out of the play-off spots, in fifth.
