REFORM was gripped by yet another racism row today after it emerged that an activist suspended for anti-semitic and anti-Muslim remarks was acting as an election agent for the hard-right party.
Adam Mitula is organising Reform’s local election drive in Tameside, Manchester, despite being suspended over his comments in February, during the city’s Gorton and Denton by-election campaign.
He had apparently posted offensive social media slurs aimed at black people, Jewish women and Muslims. He claimed his remarks had been taken out of context.
Jackie Olden, a Green Party candidate in the area, said: “Time and again, we have seen a pattern of commentary and behaviour from the Reform leadership that aims to normalise division in our communities.”
Mr Mitula’s case is just the latest in a seemingly endless series of revelations of racist attitudes held by leading figures in Reform, which has resulted in many election candidates having to be dropped by the party.
