NORWAY: Police are investigating an explosion outside the US embassy in Oslo which took place early today, officials said.

No injuries were reported. Police received reports of a “loud bang” or explosion around 1am local time, Oslo police said in a news release.

Investigators believe the embassy was the target and are searching for the perpetrators and their motive.

Local media reported minor damage to an entrance of the embassy and people nearby said the street was blanketed in thick smoke following the blast. 

 

KENYA: At least 25 people have died after flash flooding in the capital Nairobi today, which caused flight disruption and left motorists stranded for hours.

City police chief George Seda said some of the victims were drowned and others were electrocuted. He warned the death toll may rise as search and rescue operations continue.

 

COLOMBIA: The public headed to the polls today to elect a new Congress and select candidates from three major coalitions, in a primary-style contest ahead of a presidential election this May.

More than 3,000 candidates are vying for 285 legislative positions – 102 in the Senate and 183 in the House of Representatives – with 41.2 million citizens eligible to cast their ballots.

 

PERU: A bombing at a nightclub in Peru has injured 33 people, including minors, authorities said on Saturday.

The explosion happened in the pre-dawn hours at the Dali nightclub in the province of Trujillo along Peru’s northern coast, according to a statement from the local Emergency Operations Centre. 

It wasn’t immediately clear who was responsible and a motive wasn’t immediately known.
