Protesters to gather outside Turkish embassy against continued oil shipments to Israel

PROTESTERS will gather outside the Turkish embassy in London tomorrow night to condemn Ankara for not ending shipments of oil to Israel.

Palestine Youth Movement and Energy Embargo for Palestine have called the action following the release of their Fuelling Genocide report, co-published with Progressive International.

The report used satellite tracking to reveal that 57 shipments of oil, comprising a total of 47 million barrels, had been delivered from Ceyhan, Turkey, to Ashkelon, Israel.

The oil was supplied despite Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government announcing a trade embargo in May 2024 in response to the genocide in Gaza.

In a statement, the groups said: “This builds on previous research that exposed Turkey’s oil shipments to Israel and the clandestine methods used.

“The tankers involved routinely turn off their tracking signals and list alternative end destinations.

“These tactics aim to hide the correct data or trade routes from workers and the public.”

The action, demanding that the Turkish state prevent all future shipments, is taking place in co-ordination with other groups across Europe and Turkey.

The protest begins at 6.30pm.
