RMT donates No2EU collection to MML

RAIL union RMT has donated materials from the left campaign against European Union membership to the Marx Memorial Library (MML) archives.

The union’s general secretary, Eddie Dempsey, and head of communications, Brian Denny, visited the educational site today, bringing with them a collection of documents, including pamphlets, photos and a banner which read: “No2EU, yes to democracy.”

No2EU was an electoral alliance, led by former RMT leader Bob Crow, which contested the 2009 and 2014 European Parliament elections calling for withdrawal from the EU to free Britain from neoliberal requirements on competition, public procurement, public ownership and debt.

MML director Meirian Jump said: “The Marx Memorial Library, committed to preserving and promoting the socialist history of our movement, is delighted to receive the No2EU archive as an important addition to our collections.

“We are proud of our close ties with the RMT as a national affiliate, and of the educational work we undertake together, particularly with young members.

“Resources such as the No2EU archive will enrich our programme and help stimulate discussion and debate today.”
