MORE than 50 MPs have demanded David Lammy meet with the Palestine Action hunger strikers’ lawyers as they are “at imminent risk of cardiac arrest.”
Heba Muraisi, 31, marks her 68th day without food today and Kamran Ahmed, 28, his 61st.
John McDonnell MP has delivered an open letter to Mr Lammy, who is Justice Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister.
The letter, signed by 53 MPs, states that independent physicians have advised the hunger strikers are in a “critical physical state, in which their condition is likely to decline very quick and irreversibly.”
It urged Mr Lammy “to respond positively and with humanity to the simple request to meet with the lawyers of the hunger strikers in order to avert the risk to the lives of these young people.”
Ms Muraisi can no longer sit up and has dropped from around 9st 1lb to 7st 8lb as of Monday, Prisoners for Palestine campaigners said.
The Ministry of Justice was contacted for comment.
