‘This is a new party that gives us hope’ – Claudia Webbe upbeat at founding conference

DESPITE a media focus on rows at the top, former Leicester East MP Claudia Webbe holds Your Party’s founding conference to have been a great success.

“Over 4,000 people gave up their weekend to engage in the founding process of an anti-racist, anti-austerity, anti-poverty internationalist and socialist party,” she told the Morning Star.

“They’re debating how to end inequality, how a left political party can take on the big corporates, the mainstream media and the Tory-Labour duopoly that’s forever moving to the right.

“Nobody joins something to engage in the intricacies of organisational and constitutional debate, but they’re here to do precisely that — because they’re committed to a movement that will make a difference to the lives of ordinary people.

“We’re seeing people from all parts of the UK, they’ve come in numbers and not to waste their time — to engage in something different. This is a new party that gives us hope.”
