SUDAN: A world hunger monitoring group says famine has spread to Kadugli in South Kordofan and el-Fasher in Darfur, where the massacre of thousands following its fall to the insurgent Rapid Support Forces (RSF) was reported last month.
Twenty other areas in Darfur and South Kordofan, where fighting between the RSF and Sudanese army has intensified, are at risk, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification said.
ITALY: Firefighters were still trying to rescue a trapped worker following the collapse of the medieval Torre dei Conti tower in Rome yesterday.
The tower was being renovated when it partly collapsed. Three workers escaped unscathed while one was hospitalised in critical condition. Further collapses obstructed rescue efforts for the remaining trapped worker.
