MEN’S FOOTBALL: Morecambe ended their six-game winless run with a thumping 4-0 victory at Boston that moved them off the bottom of the National League and within reach of escaping the relegation zone. In the other midweek fixtures Eastleigh drew 1-1 with Scunthorpe and Boreham Wood maintained their 17-match unbeaten run, but missed the chance to leap-frog Rochdale at the top, after being held 2-2 at York City.

MEN’S CRICKET: The West Indies became the first team in one-day international history to bowl 50 overs of spin as they edged to a one-run super over victory against Bangladesh on Tuesday. Alick Athanaze, who had only bowled four overs in his previous 12 matches, was the pick of the Windies attack, finishing with 2-14 from 10 overs. The three-match series is level at 1-1 before tomorrow’s decider in Mirpur.

BASEBALL: George Springer hit three home-runs in the seventh innings as the Toronto Blue Jays came from behind to beat Seattle Mariners 4-3 in the deciding match of their American League Championship play-off. Toronto will next host defending champions Los Angeles Dodgers tomorrow in the first leg of their best of seven World Series finals. The Blue Jays have not won the World Series title since 1993.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Brazil’s three-time winners Flamengo have home advantage over Argentina’s Racing Club in tomorrow morning’s first leg of their Copa Libertadores semi-final. Tomorrow’s other last four clash in South America’s equivalent to the European Champions League sees Ecuador’s Liga Deportiva Universitaria up against Sao Paulo’s three-time winners Palmeiras. A Brazilian club has won the last six Copa Libertadores.
