MEN’S FOOTBALL: Llanelli gained their first Cymru Premier point of the season after Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Colwyn Bay. They had conceded 26 goals in their previous seven games, scoring just three times. Defending champions The New Saints moved to the top of the table on goal difference as they won 3-1 at Cardiff Met and previous leaders Caernarfon Town were beaten 2-1 at home by third-placed Penybont. 

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Regular season champions Siddal saw off Bradford’s West Bowling 24-0 on Saturday afternoon to seal their place in the National Conference Grand Final. The Halifax-based club, who lost out to Hunslet in last year’s final, will face either West Hull or West Bowling again for the title. The Humberside club, who finished third in the league, beat Thatto Heath 16-0 to book their place in the semi final eliminator. 

HORSE RACING: Jockey George Wood enjoyed a 96/1 double when he steered Candy and Run Boy Run to the Silver and Gold Cups at Ayr on Saturday. Candy, napped as a weekend tip by Farringdon, beat Sondad by a length and a half before Run Boy Run held off Desert Falcon by a neck to pick up the £92,000 first prize in the Gold Cup. Both horses are trained by Richard Spencer at Sefton Lodge, Newmarket.

MEN’S CRICKET: Opener Calum Turner hit 111 from 99 balls as Ormskirk from the Liverpool and Premier District League beat Penzance by 25 runs in the National Club Championship final at Lords on Saturday. Brad Wadlan took 3-31 from his 8 overs to help restrict Ormskirk to 217 after they were put into bat before Sam Holden bagged a match-winning 5-41 as Penzance suffered a mid innings collapse on their way to 192 all out.
