Maggie Bowden: a friend of Cuba

The Cuba Solidarity Campaign’s director, ROB MILLER, and its secretary, BERNARD REGAN, salute a staunch supporter of the socialist Caribbean island

Maggie Bowden

ON behalf of the Cuba Solidarity Campaign (CSC) in Britain, we would like to offer our deepest sympathy to Maggie’s family, colleagues and friends on her passing.

Maggie was a valued, much-liked member of CSC’s executive committee for many years, during a period when CSC was growing rapidly as a national solidarity organisation.

Maggie helped CSC in developing stronger relationships with trade unions and other solidarity organisations. As CSC women’s officer, Maggie contributed significantly to helping us develop closer ties to the Cuban Women’s Federation.

Maggie never erred from showing her support for the people of Cuba. She was enthusiastic in celebrating their achievements and worked hard in the struggle against the US blockade and in defence of Cuba’s sovereignty.

Maggie has left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire many in our efforts on behalf of the just cause that is Cuba. The finest tribute we can pay is to live up to her deep sense of commitment to solidarity and social justice.
