YOUNG people in Wales were urged today to take up £1 bus fares anywhere in the country.
The scheme begins on September 1 and young people aged between 16 and 21 were reminded by transport minister Ken Skates to sign up for a free MyTravelPass to make sure they can take advantage of the cheap fares.
Single fares will cost just £1 and there will be £3 day tickets available to allow young people unlimited travel with any participating bus services.
Future Generations’ commissioner Derek Walker said: “Affordable public transport for young people is an important investment in our future.
“By making travel more accessible, we’re opening doors to education, employment, and opportunity.”
The commissioner welcomed the scheme and said it would help the wellbeing of future generations.
The youth fares were part of the deal with the Welsh Liberal Democrats to get the government’s Budget approved.
Full details of the scheme are available on the MyTravelPass website.
