Sellafield faces 'very disruptive' strike over pay row
Sellafield Nuclear Plant in Seascale, Cumbria

SELLAFIELD faces a “very disruptive” 24-hour strike by workers supplying steam and power to the nuclear plant, Unite said today.

Nearly 40 workers for PX Limited will walkout on August 19 after rejecting the firm’s latest pay offer of between 3.5 and 5 per cent.

The firm’s latest financial reports show it increased its by 61 per cent last year to £77 million, the union said.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “PX Limited can clearly afford to pay our members for the vital work they do but is choosing to put profits over people.

“This dispute is completely caused by the employer’s greed.”

Unite regional officer Ryan Armstrong said: “This dispute involves the whole spectrum of the workforce so any industrial action would be very disruptive.

“However PX Limited could stop this if they come to the table with a deal appropriate for our members.”

PX Limited has been contacted for comment.
