MEN’S FOOTBALL: The European Under 17s championships kick off in Albania tomorrow evening with the hosts facing Portugal before Germany take on France. England make their entrance into the eight-team tournament against Belgium in Rrogozhine on Tuesday evening before defending champions Italy play Czechia. Despite holding the record for the most appearances at the finals England have not won the annual competition since 2014.

SPEEDWAY: Sheffield Tigers’ Jack Holder won the Warsaw GP on Saturday evening with defending world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik finishing back in eighth place. Belle Vue captain Brady Kurtz, who was runner up on the night, now tops the table, five points clear of Zmarzlik with Latvia’s Andzejs Lebedevs four points further back in third. Robert Lambert is the highest placed Briton in sixth. Round three takes place in Prague at the end of the month.

MEN’S BOXING: Kieron Conway defended his middleweight Commonwealth belt and picked up the vacant British title with a fourth round knockout of Gerome Warburton in London on Saturday night. Conway is likely to next face George Liddard who improved his unbeaten record to 12 bouts with a fifth-round stoppage of Aaron Sutton on the same bill. Dave Allen beat Johnny Fisher in their heavyweight rematch to avenge the defeat he suffered six months ago.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Bottom club Dragons suffered their 17th successive United Rugby Championship loss as their season ended with a 55-15 mauling by the Bulls in Pretoria. The Bulls will face Edinburgh in the play-off quarter finals while the other last eight clashes see regular season champions Leinster play the Scarlets, last year’s winners Glasgow hosting Cape Town’s Stormers and Munster travelling to the Durban Sharks.
