The army’s new recruitment ads paint a disingenuous picture
Former soldier RICHARD RUKDIN doesn’t think the army’s new ‘liberal’ PR should be taken at face value

A NEW series of British army recruitment adverts intended to encourage more Muslim, female and gay people to apply have received mixed reviews on social media.

Rightwingers claimed that the army is now bowing to political correctness, a few condemned the advert by resulting to homophobic comments, the racists suggested having Muslims in the army is dangerous, while others thought it was a step forward for equality.

So is this a sincere attempt for the army to reflect the diversity of Britain and will it really address soldiers’ emotional needs or is this all smoke and mirrors?
