German journalist calls for solidarity with others detained by Erdogan regime

GERMAN journalist Mesale Tolu, who has been detained in Turkey for the last 15 months on terror charges, was allowed to fly to Stuttgart with her son this evening, calling immediately for solidarity with hundreds of other reporters jailed by the Erdogan regime.

Ms Tolu, who was born in Turkey and grew up in Ulm, Germany, was arrested at home while looking after her then two-and-a-half-year-old child in May 2017 following the detention of her husband a month earlier.

She was accused of propagandising for the banned Marxist–Leninist Communist Party of Turkey (MLKP). Prosecutors subsequently demanded a 15-year sentence.
