To rescue Kahlo from the clutches of the corporate art market, we need to acknowledge the overt and covert political dimensions of the work, demands GAVIN O’TOOLE
Every time someone says there is no alternative
Tell them the forests are burning
The skies are filled with blood chocking smog
Every time someone tells you there is no alternative
Tell them the oceans are vomiting plastic
The oceans are swallowing us whole
Every time someone dares
To look you in the eye
And proclaim that what we have right now
Is the best possible arrangement of things
Tell them
That in the name of economies, of money, of greed
We let Death with a crown claim lives
And slaughter free
Until hundreds of thousands have died
