Thousands of NHS workers in Wales to ballot for strike action over pay
THOUSANDS of NHS workers in Wales are to ballot on strike action over pay, public service union Unison Cymru announced today.
The union, which represents thousands of healthcare assistants, ambulance workers, hospital porters, cleaners, cooks, administrative staff and nurses, said its members felt “let down” by the Welsh government accepting the NHS Pay Review Body’s recommendation of a £1,400 increase, which fails to match the current rate of inflation.
The lowest-paid workers will receive 9.3 per cent.
