IT’S a cracking day of racing with something for everyone. We see the Grand National fences in operation for the first time this season, it’s the final day of the turf flat campaign at Doncaster and Wincanton finally gets the chance to race again due to the recent rain with some fascinating events from a feature handicap chase, through to a top novice chase and the Grade Two Elite Hurdle.

The last named sees the remarkably consistent and talented Sceau Royal attempt a hat-trick of victories after roaring home by five and a half lengths and seven and a half lengths in the last two renewals. The 10-year-old showed that the fire still burns bright when hacking up by nine and a half lengths on his seasonal debut in a Listed event at Kempton Park last month, but this is another step up for him.

On this his hat-trick bid at Wincanton, he has to overcome the impressive Silver Trophy winner KNAPPERS HILL from the red hot Paul Nicholls’s yard at 3.00.
