Scottish junior doctors urged to back call for strike action in battle for higher pay
Striking NHS junior doctors on the picket line outside Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham as the British Medical Association is holding a 72-hour walkout in a dispute over pay

JUNIOR doctors in Scotland are being urged to back a call for strike action in their battle with Holyrood for higher pay.

British Medical Association (BMA) members received ballot papers today in a vote on whether they support walkouts as part of their campaign for a pay rise.

Junior doctors, who make up 44 per cent of NHS Scotland’s doctors, earn about £14 per hour and have received a mere 4.5 per cent uplift in the last year — less than half the rate of inflation.
