The bard of middle England
WILL STONE applauds the maestro of freak-folk
INSPIRED: Richard Dawson [Kuba Ryniewicz]

Richard Dawson
St George’s Church, Brighton

GEORDIE singer-songwriter Richard Dawson has been stretching the boundaries of folk music over the last decade or more.

His brand of experimental music, a form of deconstructed freak folk that’s at times uncompromising, has seen him explore the social histories of north-east England, from the medieval period to the present day, with each new release entering fascinating unchartered territory.
