Duran shows West Ham what they nearly had as Villa win on the road
Aston Villa's Jhon Duran (centre) celebrates scoring their side's second goal of the game during the Premier League match at the London Stadium, August 17, 2024

West Ham 1-2 Aston Villa
by Paul Donovan
at the London Stadium

THIS game proved to be a case of the one that got away for West Ham as Aston Villa took all three points, courtesy of Jhon Duran – a player who the Hammers have been trying to sign all summer.

While West Ham fielded five of their eight new signings for at least some of the game, it was Duran who came up with the winner.
