Wales’ campaigners step up their Israel boycott and disinvestment campaign

PALESTINIAN campaigners in Wales announced today that they are stepping up their campaign on boycott, disinvestment and sanctions against Israel.

Rhondda Cynon Taf PSC Cymru chairman Andrew Draper has been given time on the council agenda on Wednesday to persuade councillors to disinvest from Israel.

“We have had legal opinion from barristers at Doughty Street Chambers that their pension fund would be at legal and financial risk if they do not follow the stated legal requirements to divest pension investments complicit in genocide,” Mr Draper said.

Palestine activists are also set to lobby Welsh pension bosses to push the case for divestment, human rights and justice for Palestinians next Wednesday in Cardiff.

They will call on the Wales Pension Partnership (WPP) to divest pension money from companies complicit in the oppression of Palestinians.

The campaigners plan to form a Red Line protest at the WPP meeting from 9.30-10am March 10 at County Hall, Cardiff.
