US most likely responsible for killing 175 children in Iranian school attack, investigation says

THE United States was most likely behind the attack on an Iranian girls’ school that killed 175 children last Saturday, according to a US investigation.

Reuters news agency reported today that two administration sources said that, while final conclusions have not yet been reached, it seems likely that, given the munitions used, the US may be responsible for the atrocity.

The two sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, did not rule out the possibility that new evidence could emerge that absolves the US of the deadly attack.

The girls’ school in Minab, in southern Iran, was hit last Saturday during the first day of the US and Israeli unprovoked and illegal attack on Iran.

The White House did not immediately comment on the investigation. But, in a statement, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Reuters: “While the Department of War is currently investigating this matter, the Iranian regime targets civilians and children, not the US.”

Asked about the incident during a news briefing on Wednesday, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said his department was carrying out an investigation, but the US “would never target civilian targets. But we’re taking a look and investigating that.”

Deliberately attacking a school or hospital, or any other civilian structure, may be considered a war crime under international humanitarian law.
