Unions call for ambitious economic growth plans as GDP rises

UNION leaders called today for an ambitious plan for economic growth following 14 years of Tory stagnation.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said that gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.4 per cent in May, following no growth in April and higher than the 0.2 per cent growth predicted.
TUC general secretary Paul Nowak said the growth was welcome but annual growth of 1 per cent “remains well below our country’s potential.”
