Manchester City's Rebecca Knaak is mobbed by her team-mates after scoring her side's opening goal during the Barclays Women's Super League match at Joie Stadium, Manchester, May 3, 2026

WOMEN’S CRICKET: Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt has been ruled out of England’s upcoming ODI series with New Zealand as a precautionary measure after sustaining a minor left calf tear.

Sciver-Brunt picked up the injury playing for the Blaze against Warwickshire, and following a scan on Saturday afternoon, she was advised to rest ahead of a further assessment in the coming days.

Vice-captain Charlie Dean will join the squad and skipper the side for the three-match New Zealand series, with Maia Bouchier called up as batting cover.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Watford sacked manager Ed Still today after taking just two points from their final eight matches of the Championship season.

Still took charge in February after the resignation of Javi Gracia but oversaw only three wins in 15 games and Saturday’s 4-0 home defeat to Coventry made it five-consecutive defeats to end the season.

The 35-year-old said after Saturday’s loss that he was planning for next season, but the club’s hierarchy wielded the axe this morning as Still became their third managerial departure of the campaign.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Manchester City are on the brink of their first Women’s Super League title in a decade after Rebecca Knaak’s stoppage-time header earned a critical 1-0 win over Liverpool today.

A week after a shock defeat at Brighton offered Arsenal hope, City were close to dropping more points, but in the first of six minutes added on Knaak’s stooping header squirmed under the otherwise excellent Liverpool goalkeeper Jennifer Falk.

The goal ensured City end the campaign with a perfect winning record at the Academy Stadium, and knowing a win on the final day at West Ham will bring their first title in 10 years even if Arsenal can win their three games in hand.
