TENNIS: Great Britain’s Davis Cup match against Ecuador on September 19 and 20 will be staged at London’s Copper Box Arena. 

Leon Smith’s side will take on the South Americans for the place in the last eight of the competition, having swept aside Norway 4-0 in their first-round qualifier. 

The last time Great Britain hosted Ecuador in the competition in 2000, they crashed to a shock 3-2 defeat at the All England Club.

MEN’S BOXING: Ryan Garcia has confirmed his world title fight with Conor Benn will take place in Las Vegas on September 12. 

The American outpointed Mario Barrios in February to take the WBC welterweight belt. 

Benn has bounced back from the only defeat of his 26-fight career to Chris Eubank Jnr in April 2025 with back-to-back wins.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Cristiano Ronaldo will play at his sixth World Cup this summer after being named in Roberto Martinez’s Portugal squad today. 

The 41-year-old made his World Cup debut at the 2006 tournament in Germany and has played at subsequent editions in 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022. Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who is likely to be called up by Argentina, will become the first male footballers to play at six World Cups.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: North Korea’s Naegohyang Women’s FC will face South Korea’s Suwon FC Women tomorrow in the semi-finals of the Asian Football Confederation Women’s Champions League in Suwon, south of Seoul, marking the first visit by North Korean athletes to the country in eight years amid political tensions between the two nations. 

Melbourne City FC and Tokyo Verdy Beleza meet in the other semi-final, with the final scheduled for Saturday in Suwon.
