MEN’S CYCLING: The first stage of the Criterium du Dauphine rolls out of Domerat in central France on Sunday for a 195km route to Montlucon that includes seven category four climbs. The race has proved to be a good guide to success at the Tour de France, which begins in a month’s time, and this year’s start list includes Tadej Pogacar, Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel, the top three in last year’s battle for the yellow jersey.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Tyrese Haliburton sank a three-pointer in the last second of the game to snatch Indiana Pacers a surprise 111-110 win over Oklahoma City in Friday morning’s opening leg of their best of seven NBA final series. Indiana had been behind for the whole of the game until Haliburton struck and were 12 points down at half-time. Oklahoma have home advantage again in Monday’s second match.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Goals from Tamer Sayem and Wessam Abou Ali sealed Palestine’s 2-0 win over Kuwait in Thursday’s World Cup qualifier to leave them needing a victory over Oman in their final game to reach the play-offs. Jordan saw off Oman 3-0, Uzbekistan drew 0-0 with the UAE and South Korea beat Iraq 2-0 to all earn automatic qualification for next year’s tournament while Indonesia confirmed their play-off spot with a 1-0 win over China.

HOCKEY: The second half of the Pro League season starts in Valencia on Saturday morning with a women’s match between Spain and Argentina before their men’s teams clash at lunchtime. Australia’s women face the table-topping Netherlands in Amstelveen on Saturday before the Dutch men take on India. England currently sit top of the men’s league on points difference from Belgium with the Indians a point back in third.
